KS4 Spanish GCSE

The 3-year GCSE course begins in Year 9, building on the work done in Years 7 &8 but at a broader and higher level. Key Stage 4 consists of the four language skills of 30% Speaking, 30% Writing and 20% Listening, 20% Reading. The skill of writing is assessed through coursework assignments during Years 10 and 11.

It is a course designed for pupils wishing to take the more academic route in their studies and it is certainly the most suitable route to take if you are wishing to study languages at A-level.

Topics covered include talking about yourself and your friends, leisure activities including going out and TV, your town and what there is to do for young people, holidays, school and jobs.

Written tasks include writing a profile on your favourite celebrity, producing a brochure on your town and talking about your work experience.

The speaking exam has also been broken up into smaller tasks that will be done throughout the course.

The course gives you the basis to communicate with people from different countries, makes holidays more enjoyable and leads to better work opportunities due to having a foreign language and the added advantage of improved communication skills.
